All applicants must complete the following to be considered for the admission to program in its entirety and be removed from provisional status.
- Complete the online application form
- Three letters of recommendation – one from applicants evaluator, and two others from administrators of choice focusing on applicant’s qualifications and experiences working with children and youth and the applicant’s sensitivity to California’s diverse population, effective communication skills, and prior experience working with students diagnosed with Autism. One of these letters may also serve as verification of required fieldwork verifying that the candidate has taught students diagnosed with ASD in a classroom setting for at least nine (9) months. These nine months must have been in the last two years prior to being recommended to CTC for the ASD Added Authorization.
- Proof of a valid preliminary education specialist teaching credential or proof that applicant is eligible for a preliminary education specialist teaching credential
A review of the application with particular attention to the letters of recommendation will be reviewed by the Project Optimal Leadership team members. If there are questions about the contents of the application, the program may contact the applicant for clarification.
All candidates on provisional acceptance will be screened by Project Optimal administrative staff to determine that all application criteria is complete and then read by Project Optimal team members to be sure that all requirements are met as stated above.
